Since the advent of the new GTLDs, there is a growing concern of the registrants toward the protection of their trademarks online. The new GTLDs have opened up the field of domain name registrations, which in turn have become a night mare for the brand owners worldover and trademark owners.
For example, if the brand owner runs a business of Accounting services, then there is a new domain extension which can be registered namely brand dot accountants or brandname.accountants – or for businesses in the real estate, there is a domain extention that can be registered called brand-name.realestate or brand-name.realty or properties – earlier there used to be a few of them only like the .com or the .net or the .org and so on.

Benefits
This service is owned and operated by Donuts, a registrar and registry of international repute, holding most of the extentions in their portfolio of new GTLDs. The block can be accessd for a minium period of one year, to a DPML plus service which is a block on the domain extentions in your brand name, for a period extending upto 10 years.
The trademark owners now have the option to block mis spellings of your brand name and variations.
How ?
The trademark owner / brand owner should submit a SMD file to 7DigitalSolutions’ operations team matching their mark – validated by TMCH or the Trade Mark Clearing House Service.
The Domain / Domain names blocked in a DPML Block will not be functional, that is like a URL resolving, email services or related aspects.
DPML Plus (+) features and benefits
The following DPML+ features and benefits are available:
- Block 1 exact match SLD plus 3 additional SLD (Second Level Domain), that can be any combination of misspellings and/or word compositions, at no extra charge.
- Blocks increased from 5 years to 10 years.
- Blocks domain registrations across all Donuts TLDs, including all standard and premium domain names.
- Exclusive unlimited overrides for the duration of the 10-year term are included (i.e. no override fee will apply when the holders register their name(s) in the blocked TLDs).
- Blocks are not subject to override registrations by other parties with the same trademark.
What is a Donuts TLD?
Donuts applied for the rights to operate 307 new, gTLDs - all open, dictionary terms. A list of these TLDs can be provided by the 7DS operations team on request.
Donuts launches these new gTLDs using the basic registration periods: Sunrise, Early Access Program (7-day period with a descending one-time Early Access fee) and General Availability.
